Hyderabad: For the past week or so, Hyderabad has been experiencing windy and overcast conditions interspersed by hyper-local short spells of rain that last just 5 to 10 minutes. While there has been no single major spell of rainfall in Hyderabad and surrounding districts, the overcast conditions and maximum temperatures, which hovered around 33 degrees Celsius, have kept the weather quite pleasant.

Based on forecasts, a similar weather pattern is expected to continue for one more week, before the likelihood of southwest monsoons gathering pace in the first week of July.

In its forecast, the IMD-Hyderabad has issued a yellow warning of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong surface winds. The districts that can expect such weather for the next three to four days include Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Rangareddy, Kamareddy, Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Siricilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam.

Apart from the isolated thunderstorms and lightning in some districts, there has been no forecast or heavy rainfall alert for any part of Telangana. Based on the rainfall data from Telangana Development Planning Society (TSDPS), by this time, Telangana should have received 101.7 mm of rainfall, while it has received 59 mm of rainfall, a 42 per cent deficiency.
