Amit Shah to inaugurate National Turmeric Board office on June 29 in Nizamabad

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be visiting Nizamabad for opening the National Turmeric Board (NTB), releasing the logo, address a farmers’ meeting and also unveil the statue of former Congress Minister D. Srinivas on June 29.

Telangana BJP president and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy told a press conference after visiting the prospective NTB along with party MP D. Aravind that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had decided to establish the office in Nizamabad despite requests from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and other States.

It was a matter of pride that the first chairman, P. Gangadhar Reddy, too hailed from the area and a farmer’s family. The turmeric farmers’ demand for years about the establishment of such a board has finally fructified, he said.

The BJP president has requested farmers and local people to attend the public meeting. Union Minister for Industry and Civil Supplies Piyush Goyal too will be present to chalk out the action plan for the NTB on support price mechanism, value-added products, exports and others.

Mr. Kishan Reddy said that D. Srinivas had been an influential leader of Telangana, and since his first anniversary will be observed on the same day, his son and local MP Mr. Aravind, had requested Mr. Shah to unveil his father’s statue. D. Srinivas had also become ‘politically close to the BJP’ later in life, he claimed.
