Sekhar Kammula’s Kuberaa starring Dhanush, King Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna has become a blockbuster in Telugu States and it crossed Rs.100 crores mark worldwide, with major contribution with Telugu dominated markets. In North America, movie is closing in on US$ 2 Million mark, a first for Nag and Dhanush, as well.
During RRR, people started discussing about who is the real lead and supporting lead in the film. Ram Charan fans started trolling NTR fans as in climax, SS Rajamouli decided to present Ram Charan in a new avatar and as in Alluri Sitaramaraju’s popular get-up.
Now, Kuberaa collections are doing the same. In Telugu States, the collections have been huge while Tamil version is a disaster. In Tamil Nadu, after the weekend, the movie did not attract anything and even in Tamil dominated Overseas areas, the movie is showing abysmal performance.
So, people started talking about Nagarjuna’s box office stamina and popularity vs Dhanush stamina and popularity. While Nagarjuna did accept to play a supporting lead, it is his character that had much to do in the film, to become an emotional cog. Dhanush’s performance is much talked about than his character.
While the conversation about who is the lead feels too amateurish, it is evident that both the characters are important for the story to progress while Jim Sarbh did his best in selling the streotype villain. It is their performances, mainly, Nagarjuna’s commitment to play a character that is something unique about this film.
Dhanush does have a good recognition in Telugu but never enjoyed a market, for Telugu people to rush to watch his film in theatres. So, it is the mix of these two stars and Sekhar Kammula, that is, drawing crowds. Hope, people understand the fact and stop these silly comparisons as it would kill multi-starrers forever.
