Two Andhra Pradesh policemen killed in Suryapet road accident


A Sub-Inspector and a Constable from Andhra Pradesh’s Konaseema district died in a road accident near Durgapuram in Suryapet district. Their vehicle was hit by a lorry while en route to Hyderabad on an official assignment. Two others were injured.

Suryapet: Two policemen, a Sub-Inspector and a constable from Andhra Pradesh, died, while two others sustained injuries in a road accident near Durgapuram in Suryapet in the early hours of Thursday.

The incident occurred when a lorry lost control and crashed into the car carrying the officers, who were travelling to Hyderabad on an investigation assignment.


They were identified as Sub-Inspector Ashok Kumar and Constable Blessin, both from Alamuru Police Station in Konaseema district.

Though the airbags deployed upon impact, Ashok Kumar, who was seated in the front seat, and Blessin, who was driving, succumbed to their injuries.

The two severely injured policemen were shifted to the Government Hospital in Kodad for treatment.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
