Ahead of the film’s release, Manchu Vishnu interacted with the media today to discuss about Kannappa. He plays the titular role in the film, with Mukesh Kumar Singh helming the film. With a huge star cast including Akshay Kumar, Prabhas, Madhoo and others, Vishnu is highly confident of the success. During the interaction, Vishnu shared some interesting insights into the film.
Vishnu tweeted a while ago that he is elated with the terrific response to the film’s advance bookings with almost 1,15,000 tickets being sold in 24 hours. He called it ‘Siva Leela’ during the press meet.
Sharing his experience with the censor board, Vishnu revealed that the censor board members highlighted some objections, especially to the audiences in North. “All of us in South knew story of Kannappa but this is new to them. The board objected to some scenes and lines thinking it will hurt the North audiences. However, we put our point strongly that it is important for everyone to know the history. After discussions, we agreed to make minor changes to some dialogues,” said Vishnu.
With the AP government granting a ticket hike to the film, Vishnu reveals that he does not intends to hike the prices in Telangana. “The day people cut down the prices of beverages and snacks, I will implement ticket hikes in multiplexes. Kannappa is a film that all families must watch together. We hiked only 50 rupees in AP, that too, in a few centers,” said Vishnu.
Prabhas was expected to grace the film’s pre release event but Vishnu acknowledged that Prabhas is shy but also added that he did not want to give unnecessary trouble to Prabhas whose screen time is almost 40 minutes in the film. “Because of Prabhas, we are able to give a grand pan-India release to the movie. Moreover, the film is also releasing in 300 screens because of Mohanlal,” said Vishnu.
Vishnu also want to seek Pawan Kalyan’s time to screen Kannappa specially for him. “He is my senior in the industry and I am keen to take his feedback. He is also a busy person and I shall definitely showcase the film to him soon after the release,” said Vishnu.
Vishnu also released a letter to all reviewers, alerting them of not crossing the line in the name of freedom of speech. When asked if Vishnu is threatening the reviewers, he said, “I am no one to do that. All I want to make sure is to keep a check on fake reviews.”
Vishnu is also happy that his father and all kids are acting in the film. He is hoping that the film becomes a grand success and is keeping his fingers crossed.
