Hyderabad: Senior Scientist of ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition (ICMR-NIN), Dr SubbaRao M Gavaravapu, has been elected as a Fellow of the International Union of Nutrition Sciences (IUNS) in recognition of his significant contributions to nutritional sciences.
Dr SubbaRao, who currently heads the Nutrition Information, Communication and Health Education (NICHE) division at NIN, will receive the fellowship at IUNS-International Congress of Nutrition in Paris in August 2025.
His research covers key areas such as food labelling, vendor education, workplace nutritional wellbeing, and the management of misinformation during health crises. His studies on food labelling have informed policy and regulation in India, and he served on the expert committee that formulated the Dietary Guidelines for Indians 2024.
