Vijay Antony has been selecting every interesting and unique concepts from the inception of his acting career. With Bicchagadu, he earned a huge fame and name across Telugu and Tamil states. Now, he is struggling at the box office with continuous failures and he has come up with another interesting film, Maargan. Let’s discuss about the film in detail.
Plot:
Dhruva (Vijay Antony) starts investigating about biological weapon based murders. He lost his daughter for such a reactive chemical injection and he finds another murder happening in a similar way. So, he takes up the case seriously and starts investigating but unofficially in Hyderabad. There, he finds Aravind (Ajay Dhishan), a suspect, who can communicate through astral projection.
Aravind starts using his supernatural ability to bring a conclusion to the case. He proves that he is innocent and then he starts to take special interest as even his own sister seems to be falling victim to this mass murderer. What is the reason behind these murders? Who is the culprit? What is the common connection between victims? Watch the film to know more.
Analysis:
Vijay Antony as an actor improved a lot from his previous films. As a performer, he connects with us, especially, in the scenes that have him breaking down over his daughter’s murder. Ajay Dhishan is good and Brigida, others are good in the limited scope given to them.
While the movie asks us to believe that second lead has supernatural abilities, the movie doesn’t really extend on this in a convincing manner. With such abilities at display, we don’t really get into the story as much as the makers expect us to suspend the disbelief.
Still, the writing and execution are good enough with such a unique concept. If the writing and narration had been better, the movie would have been able to be one of those everyone recommends. The crime investigation holds interest to a level but conclusion doesn’t really have the desired impact.
A good concept needs even better execution and much better writing at basic level. The movie fails in giving a proper conclusion after a good and interesting set-up. Overall, movie could have been much better with emphasis on writing.
Bottomline:
Maargan looses the way after a good start.
