Hyderabad, June 27: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Friday recorded the statement of Chevella BJP MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy as a witness in connection with the phone tapping case of the BRS government tenure. The BJP MP reportedly told the SIT the then-Special Intelligence Bureau had intercepted his mobile phone as well as those of his wife and family members phones during the elections.
It was reported that the then-SIB officers intercepted his phone suspecting that huge cash might have been transferred from his residence to other places.
After deposing before the SIT, Vishweshwar Reddy told mediapersons that the then-SIB officers had violated the rules by intercepting his mobile phone and that of his wife Sangeetha. ” The police harassed me by imposing restrictions and detaining me illegally. I have submitted information to the SIT who will examine the data,” the BJP MP said.
Vishveshwar Reddy further alleged that the Congress government must take action against former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao for allegedly influencing the then-SIB officers in intercepting phones of opposition leaders. He alleged that the SIB officers recorded his call conversation during Munugode byelection.
SIT officials also recorded the statement of the owner of a vernacular TV channels for an hour, after informing him that his mobile phone was in the list of numbers that the then-SIB had intercepted.
The SIT officers also visited the corporate hospital where Medak BJP MP M. Raghunandan Rao is undergoing treatment and recorded his statement. Raghunandan Rao told the SIT officers that his mobile phone and his family members’ phones were continuously under surveillance of the then-SIB officers. During the Dubbak byelection, the then BRS government targeted him by sending police teams and Task Force sleuths after tapping his mobile phones.
