Hyderabad: In a strange attempt to avoid paying their dental bill, three individuals were arrested in Hyderabad after trying to settle their dues with a fake gold necklace.
The incident took place at Priya Smile Dental Clinic in Chakripuram, where the suspects first visited on 21 June for dental treatment. The trio included Devender Kumar, 65, and Ravi, 30, both from Agra, and a woman named Ganku Bai, 45, from Nagpur.
After receiving the treatment, they told the dentist they had no cash and offered to pay with jewellery instead. They promised to return later with the item. On 26 June, the group came back and handed over a necklace claiming it was made of gold and weighed around 1 kg.
However, the clinic’s owner grew suspicious of the unusually large and bright piece of jewellery. Not convinced by their story, the dentist alerted the Kushaiguda police.
Officers reached the clinic promptly and took the three into custody. Upon investigation, it was confirmed that the necklace was not real gold. The accused were booked for cheating and further inquiry is underway.
