Eluru District Collector K. Vetri Selvi directed officials to ensure that petitions received through the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGPRS) are resolved meaningfully and with quality. Chairing the PGPRS meeting held on Monday at the Godavari Conference Hall in the Eluru Collectorate, she received 302 petitions from the public.
A few interesting petitions were received under the PGPRS. While a petitioner asked for compensation from the Electricity Department for the loss of his cow, another petitioner sought preventive action to save his agricultural fields.
In his petition, Battula Ratnakumar from Polavaram sought compensation from the Electricity Department after his cow died due to electric shock. Similarly, Yadavalli Jaggaiah from Totaramachandrapuram in Kakarla Mudi, Unguturu mandal, reported that nearby ponds were overflowing into his agricultural land, damaging crops, and sought preventive action.
In another petition, Mohammed Abdul Azeem from Eluru appealed for immediate teacher appointments at M.A.K.A. Urdu Medium High School citing shortage of staff. A. Vijayalakshmi from T. Narasapuram urged officials to clear encroachments on the road leading from T. Narasapuram to Borrampalem.
Chakrapu Vijaya from Allipalli village in Chintalapudi mandal requested correction of a name in official land documents, while K. Satyanarayana Reddy from Jangareddygudem requested the cancellation of a mutation done on a revoked will and requested rightful mutation for the land he is cultivating.
The Collector instructed that each petition must be handled with responsibility and urgency, ensuring that issues are resolved at the departmental level without allowing scope for reopening. She emphasised the importance of on-ground verification to make grievance redressal more impactful.
