IMD issues heavy rain warning for Hyderabad and other districts of Telangana

IMD issues heavy rain warning for Hyderabad and other districts of Telangana


Hyderabad: Signalling a gain in monsoon momentum in Telangana, the Hyderabad MET department in its Monday evening forecast issued a heavy rainfall alert for multiple districts. The weather department also issued a warning for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong surface winds up to 30 to 40 kmph across all districts of Telangana.

In the next 24 to 48 hours, the districts that can receive heavy rainfall, according to the Hyderabad MET department, are Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu and Bhadradri Kothagudem. The thunderstorm, lightning and strong wind warning has been issued for all districts of Telangana.


The coming one week is expected to remain cloudy in almost all districts of Telangana, with maximum daytime temperatures likely to hover between 34 degree Celsius and 32 degree Celsius, the IMD forecast said.

Hyderabad and its surrounding districts, including Medchal-Malkajgiri and Rangareddy, will continue to experience overcast conditions, although the rains have been forecast.

“Generally cloudy sky. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by strong surface winds (30-40 kmph) are very likely to occur,” the Hyderabad MET department said.

The districts where heavy rains have been forecast by the IMD Hyderabad include Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sirisilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak and Kamareddy districts of Telangana.
