Insider Suggests Browns’ Shedeur Sanders Should Lose Driver’s License originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Cleveland Browns’ rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders seems to have a “lead foot” as he was stopped by police twice this month for exceeding the posted speed limit, and not by a little.
On June 5, Sanders was stopped by the Ohio State Patrol in Brunswick Hills after he was clocked driving 91 miles per hour in a posted 65 MPH zone. On June 17, the fifth-round pick was stopped by Strongsville Police for speeding 101 in a posted 60 MPH zone.
Sanders failed to appear in court for the first ticketed violation, which will carry additional fines. He clearly hasn’t learned his lesson.
That’s why Justice B. Hill of Cleveland.com thinks the 23-year-old should lose his driver’s license.
“To me, Shedeur Sanders should lose the right to use our roads. He’s rich, and he can Uber anywhere he might want to go. People shouldn’t trust him to take his lead foot off the peddle. I know I won’t,” Hill wrote. “For now, I’ll withhold judgment about his football ability. I won’t, however, withhold my judgment about his driving.
“The judge who handled his second traffic citation should have taken away his driver’s license. The man should’ve lost the privilege of driving on our streets.”
It could be an extreme punishment, but it also comes from a place of safety for the community.
Sanders will be in a position to battle for the starting quarterback job for the Browns in training camp this summer, assuming he isn’t behind bars.
