The Chess Network, in association with the Palamuru NRI Forum, launched an initiative to promote chess in the State.
The event, held at Ravindra Bharathi on Sunday, marked the launch of the Chess Network and the pre-launch of the 10K Chess Drive.
Chairman of Deccan Heritage Academy Trust Veda Kumar Manikonda emphasised the importance of chess as a game of life strategy, praising the Chess Network and Palamuru NRI Forum for their efforts.
NRIs Sudhir Kodati and Ravi Myreddy were commended for their inspiration behind the initiative. The Chess Network has been promoting the game in erstwhile Warangal and Mahabubnagar districts for the last two years.
Chessboards were distributed to school children during the programme, symbolising the start of a massive outreach campaign.
Palamuru NRI Forum representative T.N. Sridhar shared inspiring stories about government school students from Palamuru, who are now aspiring to become scientists. Former Deputy Collector K. Madan Mohan expressed hope for Telangana to evolve into a “Scientific State” with chess playing a pivotal role.
President of Chess Network Sanjay Kumar Gajjala pledged to work towards 100% chess literacy in rural Telangana. The Chess Network aims to introduce chess to children in rural, urban, and tribal regions of Telangana, promoting cognitive development, discipline, and strategic thinking.
