Hyderabad: Multiple workers were killed and over 20 sustained serious injuries after a reactor exploded at Seegachi Chemicals located in the Pasamailaram Industrial Area near Patancheru in Sangareddy district on Monday morning.
Explosion during work hours
The incident occurred when workers were engaged in their routine tasks. Without warning, the reactor exploded with a deafening sound, causing panic and chaos. The impact was so powerful that some workers were flung nearly 100 metres away.
Factory engulfed in flames
The explosion triggered a massive fire, with flames and thick smoke quickly spreading across the factory premises. Workers and nearby labourers rushed out in fear as the fire intensified.
Emergency services rushed to the spot
Two fire engines were immediately deployed to the scene to control the blaze. Ambulances transported the injured to nearby hospitals. Locals and workers from neighbouring units gathered at the factory as news of the accident spread.
Death toll may rise
Officials fear that the death toll could increase further as rescue operations continue. Efforts are underway to trace any workers who might be trapped inside the gutted premises. The exact cause of the explosion is yet to be ascertained, the officials said.
The condition of many of the injured workers is said to be serious. More details are awaited as rescue and relief operations are underway.
