Super Bowl Clock Is Ticking For Cowboys’ Dak Prescott originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott will enter the 2025 season needing to show that he is capable of leading this team on a deep playoff run.
In the previous nine seasons, he hasn’t shown he is up to that task, and yes, we can talk about his good regular season numbers, but the playoffs are where it counts.
With Brian Schottenheimer as his new head coach, a revamped run game and offensive line, plus the addition of George Pickens to complement CeeDee Lamb in the passing game, Dak might have everything he needs to break through that playoff ceiling.
And for ESPN’s Todd Archer, time is running out for Dak.
“The Cowboys have selected an offensive lineman in the first round of the past two drafts,” Archer writes. “This year, they added wide receiver George Pickens in a trade. Top receiver CeeDee Lamb is in his prime, and they hope to see big improvement out of their run game to help Prescott. He is entering his 10th year as the Cowboys starter. If he doesn’t make a deep playoff run soon, when will it happen?”
Granted, if Dak doesn’t get it done this year, he’ll still have one or two more years to get it done simply due to his salary cap hits ($74 million in 2026, $68 million in 2027).
So that gives Dak three seasons to pull off what some think is the only thing left to tick off on his Cowboys checklist.
Also, likely midway through the 2026 season, Prescott will likely hold the franchise records for passing yards, wins, and touchdowns, but the one thing missing is that signature playoff run and Super Bowl ring to consolidate his standing in Dallas history.
Many are skeptical of Dallas and Dak in 2025, but the pieces are there; now, it all has to come together.
Because make no mistake about it, that Super Bowl clock is ticking.
