The Toyota Innova Hycross has secured a 5-star rating at the latest round of Bharat NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) crash tests. The VX 8-seater and ZX 7-seater strong hybrid variants of the premium MPV were subjected to the crash tests. These variants come equipped with 6 airbags, electronic stability control, standard three-point seatbelts for all seats, Isofix child seat mounts, seatbelt reminder for all occupants, rear parking sensors and pedestrian protection technology along with TPMS, hill start assist, a 360-degree camera and ADAS suite. The rating, however, is applicable to both petrol and hybrid variants.

BNCAP Results Explained
The MPV earned 30.47 points out of a maximum 32 for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 45 points out of 49 for Child Occupant Protection (COP). In the front offset deformable barrier test, the Innova Hycross scored 14.47 out of 16 points and provided ‘good’ protection to the driver’s head, chest, neck, thighs, knees, lower legs and feet. It also offered high protection to the front passenger, however, the chest area was rated as ‘adequate’.
In the side movable deformable barrier test, the Toyota Innova Hycross secured full marks, 16 out of 16, and offered ‘good’ protection for the head, chest, abdomen and pelvis. The dynamic, CRS installation and vehicle assessment scores of the MPV stood at 24 out of 24, 12 out of 12 and 9 out of 13 points, respectively. The test results showed that Toyota’s premium MPV ensured maximum protection for both 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies in the front with a score of 8 out of 8 points and side impact with a score of 4 out of 4 points.
Currently, the Toyota Innova Hycross is available in 11 variants (including the newly-launched Exclusive Edition), priced between Rs 19.09 lakh – Rs 31.34 lakh (ex-showroom).
