Warriors Fans Excited After Report on Celtics Star originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Few things are guaranteed in life, but one thing is for sure: the Boston Celtics will have a new-look squad next year.
Their chances of contending for a title next season tanked when superstar Jayson Tatum ruptured his Achilles in the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the New York Knicks this past season. The injury will likely keep the former NBA champion out for at least the majority of the 2025-26 campaign.
Boston’s front office decided that rather than try to compete without Tatum next season, it would be better to cut costs and prepare for the future. That’s why it traded Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis before the NBA Draft.
Now, another member of their 2024 championship squad could depart in free agency, via The Athletic’s Anthony Slater.

The 39-year-old averaged nine points on 42.3 percent shooting (36.3 percent 3 PT) with 6.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists over 27.7 minutes this past season.

Many Warriors fans on social media are happy with this news.
“Horford would be HUGE,” one person said.
“Al Horford would be a great pickup,” another said.
“Horford’s in great shape for his age and is one of the best leaders in the league,” another said.
“I like it,” another said.
Horford played for the Celtics from 2016-19 before returning to them in 2021. The five-time All-Star has also played for the Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers, and Oklahoma City Thunder.
Horford signed a two-year, $19.5 million extension with Boston in December 2022, which expired this summer. The Florida alum is now an unrestricted free agent.
NBA free agency officially opens at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, but contracts won’t be official until the new league year on July 6.
