HYDERABAD: Adilabad police are now probing the role of revenue inspectors who allegedly facilitated the issuance of fake local certificates to CISF aspirants. The racket, which first came to light during document verification in 2022, appears to have deeper roots.“Back then, during the verification process, some of the certificates submitted by selected candidates for Central govt jobs were found to be fake. The concerned recruitment agencies were informed,” a senior official said.Though nine such cases were identified at the time, no criminal action was taken. “We only shared the findings with the agencies. But with such cases becoming more frequent, we’ve now decided to register FIRs and take action,” the official added.

Initial investigation has revealed that some revenue officials colluded with local agents, helping non-local candidates – mostly from Uttar Pradesh – obtain fake residential certificates in Ichoda, Adilabad. So far, three agents from Adilabad have been arrested. The scam reportedly began with one Deepak from Uttar Pradesh, who secured a CISF job by falsely claiming local residency. He allegedly helped eight others do the same. “Due to high competition in Uttar Pradesh, candidates looked for opportunities in Telangana, where they had better chances under the local quota,” the official said. The certificates were issued without any physical verification, raising serious questions about the role of revenue officials. Police say agents collected around Rs 1 lakh per aspirant to arrange fake documents. With FIRs now filed, the nine candidates, currently undergoing training are likely to lose their jobs.
