We have all been waiting for the third-generation Renault Duster to hit Indian roads, which is slated to happen in 2026. In European markets, the Duster SUV is sold under the Dacia brand, a Romanian car brand owned by Renault. According to a fresh media report, Dacia is working on the Duster EV based on the dedicated CMF-BEV platform, which also underpins the Renault 5 and Renault 4. While the carmaker hasn’t yet revealed its launch timeline, it has confirmed that the Dacia Duster EV (Renault Duster EV) “will come in time”.
Renault Duster EV – What to Expect?
The Duster EV is expected to make global debut by 2027, and eventually will make its way to India. Earlier, we have reported that Renault India is considering a C-segment electric SUV to challenge the Hyundai Creta Electric and the upcoming Maruti e Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser EV.
The electric Duster is expected to come with a dual motor setup and an LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery, featuring rugged styling and 4X4 capabilities. It would be quite early to comment on its range figures; however, it’s expected to deliver range over 300km on a full charge.

Renault Duster Hybrid For India
The new-gen Duster will be introduced with petrol and petrol-hybrid powertrain options. The petrol only version is expected to be offered with the 1.0L naturally aspirated and 1.3L turbo engine options. The hybrid version will feature a 94bhp, 1.6L petrol engine paired to two electric motors and a 1.2kWh battery pack, delivering a combined power of 140bhp. The hybrid powertrain will be reserved for the top-end variant of the Duster, equipped with an AWD drivetrain system.
Renault Considering CNG?
Considering the high demand of the CNG vehicles in India, Renault might introduce a CNG (compressed natural gas) powered Duster in future. The plan is currently under evaluation, and the company might opt for the third-party CNG solutions, depending on regulatory and market demand.
