HYDRAA to train 4,100 persons to handle monsoon emergencies

A press release from the Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has informed that a total 4,100 workers will be trained to handle emergencies during monsoons.

The monsoon emergency operations have recently been handed over to HYDRAA from GHMC. A total 150 monsoon emergency teams are now ready to address the rain related issues in the city, and each team has four people working per shift, totalling up to 1800 persons deployed on the ground. Of these, 734 persons will be deployed at chronic inundation points. In addition to this, HYDRAA will deploy 51 teams of its own for the emergency operations with 18 members in each team. There are also emergency bike teams of two members each, numbering 21. 30 marshals will supervise the work and an additional 20 teams, each with 10 persons will work with the traffic police. Another 240 workers have been kept ready to clear the green waste in the event of tree falls. All the teams have been trained and equipped with the necessary tools and machinery, the note said.

HYDRAA chief A.V. Ranganath directed the teams to ensure that rainwater is evacuated as early as possible, by removing obstructions in drains.
