I was fortunate to have booked the car on day 1 and hence got the car at the introductory price of 17.5 lakhs (ex-showroom), despite the price at the time of invoicing increasing to 18.31 lakh
BHPIAN ANKYTSHROF recently shared this with other enthusiasts:
Happy to share that I have finally taken delivery of the MG Windsor Pro Essence in Celadon Blue.
The only bummer was that my state (Jharkhand) provides very little incentive (just 25% of the road tax), and hence I ended up paying ~1.25 lakhs as RTO which I would not have had to in many other states (though I cannot complain since I have saved a lot on the road tax of ICE vehicles in the past owing to just 9% Road Tax).
The primary reason for the purchase was exchanging either one of our 2 daily drives which were seeing a lot of running (~35k kms per year across the two vehicles), and the fuel bills were hitting us hard especially since one is a turbo-petrol DCT (i20) and the other a NA petrol CVT (Honda Amaze).
The car was purchased from MG Ranchi, and the purchase experience was indeed very pleasant. Being an in-demand car and having booked the car at introductory price, I was expecting some resistance from the SA (Mr. Aditya) and the Sales Manager when it came to negotiations; to my surprise, they accepted my request to let go off the essential kits, there were no handling/ logistics charges, upon pressing to reduce the insurance cost to match the outside price, they were willing to go down (to 65.5k) and even then gave me an option to opt for a 3rd party insurance (I decided to get it from showroom for my peace of mind, in any case, the difference would not have been over 15-20k in my opinion).
The delivery day was filled with small surprises. The car was charged to 100%. I did find some chip marks, micro-scratches, which they cleared off before handing over the car. They also provided some goodies in the form of a keychain, an organiser for documents, a tissue box, and fragrance.
Ownership experience:
Having driven over 175 km in these two days already, I can say that the car really justifies the VFM quotient. The drive is adequate (for an EV), seat comfort is terrific, though the ride quality (especially at the rear) leaves you wanting for more. There are acres of space (a vast difference when 3 adults are seated in the rear in this car vs. our other cars), great knee room and thigh room (considering this is an EV and thigh support is the Achilles heel of many EVs).
When I read that the first 3 services were complimentary, I was honestly expecting them to be the annual services (15k/30k/45k kms), apparently these include the inspection checks at 1,000 kms and 5,000 kms. I cannot really blame MG or the showroom for this confusion. In any case, I plan to take the service plan for 5 years (although I came across one post in the MG Windsor EV thread providing the option to select the service package upto 10 years, not sure if it exists). Additionally, I intend to take the extended warranty for 5 years. Are there any summer/ monsoon camps by MG wherein they provide offers on these VAS? If not, I will probably not wait to get them.
Accessories added: 3D mats, Mud flaps, Sill Plates, planning to add the spare tyre and screen protector during the 1,000 km service.
Ending the post with a quick photo capture on the date of delivery.
