Now all eyes are on upcoming Bollywood film Ramayana starring stars Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi in the titular rolls of Lord Shri Rama and Sita respectively.
The exit wounds of Adipurush will certainly make the filmmaker along with producers of Ramayana a bit jittery. Because its predecessor Prabhas starrer Aadipurush which was supposed to be one of the blockbuster films at pan-India level failed on all counts.
From poor animation to video-game styled visuals, everything went for a toss. Too many cinematic liberties by Om Raut put the film down. The criticism touched a new height as audiences including Prabhas fans called it unfaithful and controversial adaptation of epic Ramayana. The film that was supposed to set benchmark in all languages was marred by heavy trolling on internet due to it’s poor storytelling.
The film has not just faced backlash it was opposed by religious groups for hurting sentiments, the over hype and marketing misfires during promotional activity, casting choices and performances have made the film all the more disastrous in the end.
Considering several aspects of the past, director Nitish Tiwari has an unforeseen challenge ahead.
As the time inching closer, the makers have to up the game.
If this film has to be in the game, they should certainly see beyond what meets the eye. Right from the release of the teaser to trailer, every promotional element counts. The film should stay true to the spirit of the epic Ramayana.
The makers should avoid overhyping with incomplete material.
One of biggest budget films that is in the list of panindia flicks Ramayana has Yash in the role of Ravana while Sunny Deol will play as the Lord Hanuman. Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Rakul Preeth Singh as Surpanaka. Kunal Kapoor will reprise the role of Lord Indra. The film is set to release in two parts. The first part will be released on Diwali next year.
