Indian cricket star Mohammed Siraj has embarked on a new venture off the pitch, inaugurating his first restaurant, Joharfa, in the heart of Hyderabad’s upscale Banjara Hills. The restaurant, which officially opened its doors to the public on June 24, promises a luxurious culinary experience, blending traditional and contemporary flavors in a setting designed for both comfort and opulence.
Joharfa’s menu is a tribute to Hyderabad’s rich gastronomic heritage, offering a diverse selection of Mughlai, Persian, Arabian, and Chinese cuisines. The restaurant’s kitchen is helmed by a team of experienced chefs who emphasize the use of fresh, high-quality ingredients and time-honored cooking techniques. Siraj, who partnered with his brother for the venture, described Joharfa as “very close to my heart,” adding, “Hyderabad gave me my identity, and this restaurant is my way of giving something back—a place where people can come together, share a meal, and enjoy flavours that feel like home”.
The interiors of Joharfa reflect Siraj’s vision of luxury fused with local culture, featuring gold accents and plush décor that have already become a talking point on social media. The restaurant’s launch has generated significant buzz among food lovers and cricket fans alike, with videos and images of its lavish setup circulating widely online.
With this move, Siraj joins a growing list of Indian cricketers who have diversified into the food industry, following in the footsteps of legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, and Virat Kohli, who have each launched their own successful restaurants. For Siraj, however, Joharfa is more than just a business—it is a heartfelt tribute to his roots and the city that shaped his journey from humble beginnings to international cricket stardom.
