Hydraa demolishes major encroachments to make way to Nallagandla stormwater drain in Hyderabad

Demolition under way at Huda Colony in Nallagandla and the nala at Madhura Nagar being desilted, in Hyderabad on Friday.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (Hydraa) on Friday bulldozed unauthorised structures built on a stormwater drain at Huda Colony in Nallagandla.

According to Hydraa, the encroachers had built permanent structures and illegally occupied a portion of the stormwater drain by constructing an apartment.

A few of the encroachers had demolished unauthorised structures voluntarily, while some were reluctant.

Meanwhile, the Monsoon Emergency Teams (METs) of Hydraa cleared tons of waste material that was piled up in the open nalas at Madhura Nagar and Krishna Nagar in Yousufguda on Friday.

The emergency teams also removed waste material and other waste plastic material dumped in the nala at Janardhan Reddy Colony in Gachibowli. Similar work was also done in the nala catchment area at Markandeya Colony in Kapra Circle, RCI Road in LB Nagar, and the nala passing from Manthrala Cheruvu to Jillellaguda in Mithila Nagar.
