Mileage has remained the same overall.

35,000 km in 2.5 years with my Ignis: A quick service update

Update at 35,000 km in 2.5 years

Took Iggy for service with odometer at 34942. Maruti had been calling me incessantly as my service was due for either 40,000 km or June 2025. Since the latter approached first, I took Iggy for service.

Servicing

The final service bill came up to 15k. The following was done:

  • Engine oil flushed and filled
  • Coolant flushed and filled
  • Replaced the old spark plugs with new ones
  • Replaced fuel filter
  • Requested to replace the brake pads as they were nearing EoL
  • New air filter (I make it a point to replace it every 10,00 km)
  • New cabin AC filter (also replaced every 10,000 km, planning to make it 5,000 thanks to pollution in namma Bengaluru)
  • The vent turning mechanism of both AC vents was damaged by yours truly during a vigorous cleaning session, so replaced it.
  • Replaced OEM wipers with new Bosch ones (Sourced the parts myself)

It also seems that my disc brakes need to be replaced in the next service.

New Service Centre Experience

I finally found a good service centre nearby – Sanvit Automobiles near Gottigere. They have excellent service advisors and have great attention to detail. They will send regular updates on WhatsApp and keep you updated of the progress. They also have a relatively quick turnaround time on weekdays (4-5 hours if you give your car in the morning). I will probably be getting all my services done from them in the future.

Mods

  • I also did the following mods over the course of last year to enhance the driving experience:
  • Replaced OEM fog lights with Zulo Tri LED projector fog lamps. This was a plug and play and fits correctly into the fog lamp housing. The throw is great, and I have been using it for 6 months. I use them only during highway runs and for early morning drives as the OEM projector headlights are good enough for city use.
  • Replaced cabin light with an LED one.

Made my own car kit with the following:

  • Puncture kit
  • Medical aid kit
  • Tyre inflator
  • Flashlight
  • Microfiber cloth x2
  • Multifunctional charging cable
  • Front windshield sunshade

Upgraded to Bosch horns.

General Observations

  • Mileage has remained the same overall. (12-15 kmpl in medium to heavy city traffic and 20-22 kmpl on highways).
  • I used to consistently fill air in the tyres at 32 psi. Bringing it down to 30 psi has made a world of difference comfort wise. I should have done it sooner!
  • As always, the small size and acceleration has helped me manoeuvre through Bengaluru traffic with ease

That’s all, folks!

Here’s to munching more miles!
