Vijayawada: The Vande Bharat Express train en route to Chennai from Vijayawada was halted for nearly 28 minutes at Chirala railway station after a stray dog came under the train wheels, resulting in mechanical failure at the train loco on Sunday. The train number 20678 from Vijayawada to Chennai via Renigunta departs at 15:30 from Vijayawada railway station and reaches Chennai at 22:00. The incident occurred around 16:30 near Chirala railway station, leading to the dog getting stuck inside the train loco. Acting swiftly, the loco pilot alerted the concerned staff, and the mechanical engineers were pressed in to repair the loco. Upon the completion of the repair works, the train departed from Chirala railway station at 16:58 on Sunday, SCR Vijayawada division PRO Nusrat told TOI.The minor mishap involving the dog run over resulted in the train arriving around 50 minutes late at Ongole railway station, where it arrived at 17:31, nearly 50 minutes later than the scheduled arrival of 16:40.
