Shubman Gill, the all shiny Indian test Skipper, has taken the cricketing world by storm due to his brilliant batting and captaincy skills in England.
With India decisively winning the second test match, Gill’s comment regarding the pitch and ball conditions has gone viral, igniting a debate on social media.

Gill has complained about the flat nature of pitches as well as the poor quality of the Dukes ball. The skipper came out to say that a mixture of these two means that the bowlers rarely get any help except in the first 20 overs, with the game ultimately losing its essence.
His exact words were, “It gets very difficult for the bowlers. The ball is going soft and out of shape very quickly. I think there should be a little help at least. If the ball is doing something, you enjoy playing.”

While many supported the Captain’s words, others were also quick to point out that if the batting conditions get harder, they would get harder for both teams.
If that could mean a benefit for India, it could very well also lead to a batting collapse for the Men in Blue, including Gill who doesn’t seem happy scoring 400+ runs in a test match.
