Bomb threat at Hyderabad’s city civil court; search on at premises | Hyderabad News

Tension prevailed at the city civil court premises in Purani Haveli area of Hyderabad’s old city on Tuesday after a threat email was received regarding a bomb allegedly planted there. All the court proceedings were halted and the advocates, judicial officers and others vacated the buildings, the police said.

The email was received by the chief judge of the city civil court.

According to the police, the entire premises of the court complex are being searched to locate the bomb, if any, or rule out the presence of one. Bomb squad, fire and rescue teams, task force and local police are on the spot.

A police officer from Mir Chowk police station told indianexpress.com that the email was sent at 3.40 am. “We received information about the threat at 11.30 am. The premises have been vacated, and a search for a possible bomb is going on. An investigation has also been initiated to trace the source of the email,” he said.

Recently, on June 18, Hyderabad’s Begumpet airport had received a bomb threat email. This led to the evacuation of the premises and thorough searches by the bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs, following which the threat was declared a hoax.
