How I made my Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 capable of 500+ km rides

Modest Upgrades for the Guerrilla 450: Preparing for the Occasional Long Ride

After ten months and a couple of thousand kilometers with my Guerrilla 450, I’ve made some small modifications to better suit my needs, especially for those rare long rides. I chose this bike over the Himalayan 450 because most of my riding is local, and the Himalayan felt a bit too bulky for daily city use. However, on longer journeys, the stock fuel range of 250-330 km left me a little anxious, especially in Bhutan, where reliable fuel stations can be a bit scarce, especially outside the capital. To ease those worries, I decided to add a couple of Jerry cans- something I’d seen on YouTube used by riders on Ladakh expeditions. After some searching, I found a seller in Jammu, India, who kindly shipped them to me. Now, with the extra fuel capacity, my range extends beyond 500 kilometers, giving me the freedom to reach even the most remote corners of my country.

For luggage, I started with a Viaterra tail bag (35L) from my previous motorcycle, but it wasn’t quite enough for longer trips.

So, I passed it on to a friend and upgraded to a Viaterra Fly Magnetic Tank Bag (18L) and a Viaterra Claw Tail Bag (72L). Together, they give me a generous 90L of storage, which is plenty for my touring needs. The Claw bag even allows me to strap additional bags on top, which is a handy feature.

The only downside of the Claw bag was the plastic D-rings, one of which broke during a short ride. A quick fix with metal D-rings from Amazon India solved that issue, and now the setup feels much more durable.

The changes have made my Guerrilla 450 even more versatile, while keeping its fun and agile character intact.
