
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rainfall alert for two Telangana districts and thunderstorm alert for 23 districts for Wednesday (July 9, 2025).

Heavy rainfall alert was issued for two districts for Wednesday
Scattered rainfall on Tuesday (July 8, 2025) afternoon led to brief but widespread traffic disruptions across Hyderabad, as congestion was witnessed at several key junctions. Vehicles moved slowly due to the sudden showers.
According to data from the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), rainfall was recorded in multiple areas of the city as of 4 p.m., with Jeedimetla receiving the highest at 7.8 mm followed by Gajularamaram (7.5 mm), Rajendranagar (7.3 mm), Chandrayangutta (5.3 mm), Qutubullapur (5 mm), Alwal (4.5 mm), Kukatpally (4 mm), Malkajgiri (3.8 mm), and Karwan (2.8 mm).
Hyderabad weather forecast
India Meteorological Department in its bulletin issued on Tuesday (July 8, 2025) has forecast that partly cloudy sky would cover Hyderabad and its surrounding areas for the next 24 hours. “Light rain or drizzle accompanied with gusty winds are very likely to occur in parts of the city. Hazy conditions are very likely to prevail during morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 32°C and 23°C, respectively,” the bulletin said.
Heavy rainfall alert in two districts
It has also issued weather alerts for several parts of Telangana. In the bulletin, the IMD warned of heavy rainfall at isolated places in Mancherial and Nizamabad districts on Wednesday (July 9, 2025). Additionally, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are very likely across 23 districts, including Hyderabad.
Districts under thunderstorm alert include Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhongir, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, and Kamareddy.
