HYDERABAD: The state cabinet meeting on Thursday is likely to discuss 42% quota to Backward Classes (BCs), elections to panchayats, the formal launch of new ration cards at a public meeting in Thungathurthy constituency on July 14, increase in the market value of land, revised stamp duty for women, the new GIG workers’ welfare law, and irrigation projects among other key issues.Official sources said the cabinet is likely to take a decision on 42% reservation for BCs and local body elections in compliance with the high court directions to complete the election by Sept 30. The CM would seek the opinion of his cabinet colleagues on local body elections, taking into account the opinion of the law department and legal experts on whether the govt could issue a GO extending 42% quota to the BCs and other ways of fulfilling its promise to community.
