Warangal MLAs depose before TPCC over rift with Konda Surekha’s family

Hyderabad: The simmering rift between Forest Minister Konda Surekha’s family and Congress MLAs from Warangal reached the TPCC Disciplinary Committee, with the aggrieved legislators presenting their case on Thursday.

Over the past few weeks, several Warangal MLAs have accused the Konda family of making objectionable remarks and interfering in matters outside their constituency. The disgruntled leaders had earlier taken their grievance to Telangana Congress in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan and the TPCC Disciplinary Committee headed by Nagarkurnool MP Mallu Ravi.

Responding to summons, MLAs Kadiyam Srihari, Nayini Rajender Reddy, KR Nagaraju, Revuri Prakash Reddy, MLC Basavaraju Saraiah and others appeared before the committee at Gandhi Bhavan. The committee had called them to explain their version of events concerning the fallout with the Konda family. The committee held discussions for over an hour, during which multiple dimensions of the dispute were examined.

“The MLAs and leaders shared their views. The future course of action will be communicated in due course,” Mallu Ravi told reporters after the meeting, adding that the matter would also be taken up with the AICC in-charge and other senior party leaders.

“Another meeting will be held before a final decision is made,” he said.

Last week, former MLC and Surekha’s husband Konda Murali had submitted a six-page report to the committee outlining his version of the events.
