The death toll in the suspected adulterated toddy case in Hyderabad rose to eight on Friday, July 11, 2025. According to the police, the official count remains at eight.

“Many families have been cremating the bodies without informing the police. While they had similar symptoms including diarrhoea and low blood pressure after consuming toddy, we are not able to confirm such cases. We are monitoring the situation,” a police officer said.

A forensic doctor from Gandhi Hospital confirmed that post-mortem examinations have been completed on six bodies.

Meanwhile, a total of 59 individuals remain hospitalised across the city. Of these, 34 patients are undergoing treatment at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), while 25 others are admitted to Gandhi Hospital as of 8 p.m. on Friday.

“Nine patients are undergoing dialysis and two others may need dialysis. While nine patients are stable, 11 others remain under observation,” NIMS said in a latest bulletin. In Gandhi Hospital, two patients are undergoing dialysis while one has allegedly left the hospital against advice, the hospital informed in a statement.

The affected individuals were brought to hospitals on Tuesday night after experiencing symptoms such as diarrhoea, low blood pressure, dizziness, and fatigue. Since then, hospitals have reported a steady influx of patients presenting with similar complaints.
