Angst of Telangana BJP workers hasn’t reached Delhi, says MLA T Raja Singh; party calls claim ‘irrelevant’, accepts resignation | Hyderabad News

THE BJP national leadership accepted the resignation of controversial MLA T Raja Singh on Friday.

The MLA, who represents the Goshamahal constituency in Hyderabad’s Old City, resigned on June 30 in protest of the BJP’s decision to unanimously elect N Ramchander Rao as president of the party in Telangana.

Singh had attempted to file his nomination for the post of Telangana BJP president but was unable to garner support for his candidature.

While accepting Singh’s resignation Friday, BJP national general secretary Arun Singh wrote: “The contents mentioned by you (in the resignation letter) are irrelevant and do not match the functioning, ideology and principles of the party.”

The resignation has been accepted “with immediate effect” as per the “direction of BJP national president” JP Nadda, the letter further said.

Festive offer

Meanwhile, Singh issued another statement on Friday on his journey with the BJP.

“Exactly 11 years ago, I had taken membership of the BJP. It was to serve the people, nation and to safeguard Hindutva that I had joined the party. The BJP trusted me and allowed me to contest MLA elections on the party ticket. I thank the party leadership for this opportunity,” he said.

He added that the “angst of lakhs of BJP workers who have been trying to bring the party to power in Telangana” had not reached Delhi. He spoke similarly on the day of his resignation, claiming that the BJP was not interested in coming to power in Telangana.

At the time, Singh claimed he took several personal risks for the party.

“My family and myself are under the scrutiny of terrorists. I have taken that kind of risk for the party. But the BJP has leaders who do not want the party to come to power in Telangana,” Singh had said.

In his resignation letter, Singh wrote that Rao’s impending appointment came as a “shock and disappointment”. He added that he stood by Hindutva ideology and would dedicate his life for people’s causes.
