CAT Summons Telangana, AP Chief Secretaries Over IFS Officer’s Pension Row

Hyderabad: The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT)- Hyderabad on Friday directed the chief secretaries of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to appear virtually before it on July 18 in relation to the eight-year-long dispute over the payment of pension to former IFS officer Tej Singh Kardam, who retired in 2014

The Telangana government has stated that non-availability of records pertaining to Kardam was cited was the reason for not commencing the payments. The Andhra Pradesh government has maintained that it has handed over the record to Telangana.

The CAT had earlier ordered the top bureaucrats of the two states to appear on Friday. Telangana Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao did not do so.

Taking serious note of it, the bench of judicial member Dr Lata Baswaraj Patne and administrative member Varun Sindhu Kul Kaumudi directed the Telangana Chief Secretary to appear virtually on July 18 and explain the reasons.
