Hyderabad: Depressed after being cheated of around Rs 1.5 lakh in a part-time job fraud, a 25-year-old woman died by suicide at her house in Tulsi Nagar area of KPHB Colony. The woman left a suicide note detailing how she had mortgaged her gold jewellery and borrowed from friends to transfer money into the accounts of fraudsters.The victim, Ganga Anusha, wife of K Venkanna Babu, a techie from KPHB Colony, was a native of West Godavari district in AP. A month ago, Anusha received a message on WhatsApp about a part-time job offer, and when she responded, fraudsters added her to a Telegram account.“Initially, they paid her money and lured her to take up paid tasks. Once she paid Rs 30,000 as a deposit fee, they told her that she had made a mistake in a task assigned to her and demanded money from her to get the mistake corrected. They made her transfer Rs 1.5 lakh. She realised that she had been defrauded after they kept demanding for more money,” SI Srinivas Yadav said.Hoping to get her entire money back, Anusha pledged her gold ornaments and also borrowed from friends to pay the fraudsters. “Unable to share her ordeal with anyone, Anusha died by suicide on July 8 after her husband left for work,” the SI said.The incident came to light when her husband returned home at around 10 pm on July 8. The couple’s four-year-old son was home at the time of the incident.Police registered a case under section 194 of BNS and handed over the woman’s body to the family after a post-mortem on Wednesday.
