All the trim pieces removed were fitted back into place like they had never been tampered with.

BHPian S2kyon recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

We got the Legroom Lamps (LRL) and Wireless Charger installed at a Toyota service centre in Bhubaneswar today. These accessories come standard with the Exclusive Edition. Though our car was not fitted with it from day one, as the parts had not arrived. The installation took 1 hour overall, and this time, I’m overall pleased with the experience.

We arrived at around 10 am, and there was no delay. The work started as soon as 10:10 am. The first part to be installed was the wireless charger. At first, the installation person removed the whole glovebox:

A hole was made where the wireless charger’s wiring harness had to go through:

I felt like the procedure for the hole to be made was a bit crude and it would have been better if a circular patch for a distinct and clear cut was made; kind of similar to the covering of a towing hook.

After Installation:

The wireless charger unit had adhesives that made it stick onto the area very well. Doesn’t flex as much as I thought it would. I was also provided with a user manual for the wireless charger:

Now, it was the LRL’s turn to be installed. The installation person started by removing the cowl above the instrument cluster. It clunked off with a satisfying click.

Then, the instrument cluster was removed:

At first, I was worried about the removal of so many trim pieces in such a new car. Oh boy, it got even worse.

The wiring being guided across the dashboard (from inside) to reach the co-driver side:

The unit gets power from the driver’s side of the car, from under the steering. I couldn’t click a picture as it would interfere with the personnel installing the lamps.

The lamps after being successfully guided to the co-driver side:

I was also provided with a User manual for the LRLs:

So yeah, the installation was complete. All the trim pieces removed were fitted back into place like they had never been tampered with. And to double-check if any rattle had popped up, I played a high bass song right there before the car left the SVC. I’m happy to report that no rattles were heard. I inquired about the dealer-enabled features and they said that the SVC is too crowded right now for that and they promised to get it done at the 10k service.

The gate-pass was quickly given and we were out in no time after the installation was done. I’m overall pleased with the quick installation and no delay in the service.

Verdict on the accessories installed:

  • The wireless charger works well, and I didn’t experience any issue with the phone not being charged due to the phone not being placed properly. The charger and the phone do heat up, though, and honestly, it’s more of a gimmick. But that isn’t due to any flaw of the wireless charger unit, but the technology itself is slower + heats up more. Also, the phone having a cover didn’t interfere with the charging.
  • The Legroom Lamps, on the other hand, it is a meaningful addition that really elevates the premium feel at night. They are sufficiently bright and there are 24 colors to choose from, with a setting to adjust the brightness. The lights are Bluetooth-based, and the lights are controlled by another separate app, not Toyota i-connect.

Overall, I’m happy to have gotten both of these installed and they are much better than the air purifier.
