Vijayawada: A woman domestic help allegedly murdered his 70-year-old employer and fled with gold ornaments and other valuables from his home. The crime took place in the early hours of Friday at NTR Colony in the city.The victim, identified as Venkata Rama Rao, was living with his mother, Saraswathi. Three days ago, the family hired a woman named Anusha as domestic help. Anusha was staying at her employer’s house.Police said the incident came to light around 1 am on Friday when Saraswathi noticed that the lights in Rama Rao’s bedroom were on. Upon checking, she found her son lying unconscious on the bed. Shockingly, chili powder was found on the body and face, suggesting an attempt to incapacitate or torture him. Adding to the suspicion, Anusha was found missing from the premises, and the household’s almirah was broken open. Preliminary investigations revealed that Anusha, with the help of her husband, smothered Rama Rao to death using a pillow. She then looted the house and fled. Acting swiftly, police nabbed Anusha at around 6 am the same morning.
