In a tragic incident, a youth belonging to Vemulawada rural mandal was assaulted by his employer in Saudi, and he eventually died. He went to the foreign country for his livelihood but returned home after the attack. Soon after returning to Hyderabad, he fell sick and breathed his last. However, police said that they cannot initiate any action against the Saudi employer as there is no proper evidence against him.
Pedaveni Raju, 21, was pursuing degree in the village and working as a driver. He consulted an agent in Kamareddy to migrate to Gulf to work as a driver there and paid him Rs 1 lakh for procurement of visa.
Ten days ago, he went to Saudi but was entrusted with the duties of rearing sheep and labour work. When he questioned the employer about why he was being asked to do some other works when he came there to work as a driver, the employer assaulted him.
Raju informed his parents about the assault and they rushed to the agent and appealed to him to bring back their son. The Gulf agent demanded Rs 1.20 lakh from Raju’s parents to get their son back to the village.
His parents managed to shell out the money demanded by the agent and Raju reached Hyderabad on Tuesday night. Then he went to his relatives house in Tandur. When he complained of severe stomach ache, Raju suggested that they take him to Hyderabad. On Wednesday night, he died while undergoing treatment.
His body was shifted to Nukalamarri on Thursday. When the police was contacted, they said that no case was filed as Raju’s parents failed to show any evidence about the attack on their son in Saudi.
