This pattern isn’t limited to one individual.
Bollywood stars today often fall into three categories: the naturally gifted dancers who dominate the screen, those who work hard enough to blend in, and those who offer the bare minimum.
The latter group, in particular, seems to have carved out an unintended niche—where lack of movement becomes the most memorable part of the performance, often for comic effect.
Some of this may be attributed to changing filmmaking styles, where realism or character-driven narratives downplay the need for elaborate dance sequences.
Yet the decline in enthusiasm also hints at a broader shift in performance culture—where physical expression is no longer seen as central to an actor’s craft.
As Bollywood evolves, so too does its relationship with dance.
Whether this shift reflects artistic choice or waning passion remains open to interpretation—but it’s clear that the spark isn’t what it used to be.
