GHMC Intensifies Anti-Larval Drive Along Musi

HYDERABAD: To curb the spread of mosquito-borne diseases, the GHMC entomology department sprayed larvicide and fogged the Musi River near Afzalgunj and the Telangana High Court on Saturday. Officials said the chemicals target larvae in stagnant water, helping control the spread of dengue and malaria. “Spraying larvicide is only a temporary measure, but we will continue at regular intervals to keep mosquito populations in check,” said a GHMC entomology official.

The spraying operation will continue in the coming weeks, particularly in low-lying areas near the river. GHMC officials also said citywide fogging drives will begin soon. Residents were urged to avoid storing water in open containers, clear stagnant water regularly, and maintain clean surroundings to support the anti-mosquito drive.
