Following the tragic deaths of six people and the hospitalization of over 40 due to adulterated toddy in Kukatpally, Hyderabad, the prohibition & excise department has suspended the SHO of Balanagar excise station.

HYDERABAD: Three days after adulterated toddy served at various toddy compounds in Kukatpally led to the death of six people and the hospitalisation of over 40 others, the prohibition & excise department officials on Friday announced the suspension of the station house officer (SHO) of Balanagar excise station.Prime suspect in custodyApart from that, the prime suspect, Satyam Goud, allegedly involved in managing several toddy compounds in Kukatpally, was reportedly taken into custody, and an investigation is underway. Already, four persons were arrested by the sleuths on Thursday. Excise officials said that the Balanagar station house officer Venu Kumar, under whose jurisdiction toddy compounds in Kukatapally fall, has been suspended on charges of negligence.Meanwhile, excise commissioner C Hari Kiran on Friday held a review meeting with deputy commissioners and other concerned officials and directed them to take firm action against the toddy adulteration and asked the local staff to be vigilant. The officials also discussed the logistical requirements for the upcoming 14 new excise stations.
