HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will set up portable ponds this year also to immerse Ganesha idols as part of ‘nimajjanam’. These ponds can be dismantled and assembled later. The size of the ponds will be 20 meters x 10 meters and the depth will be 1.32 meters.
“This time over 80 artificial ponds will be set up and among them over 25 will be portable ponds,” said a GHMC official. The remaining will be artificial ponds and excavation ponds. In these ponds, only idols up to 5 feet in height are allowed.
