Rented a self drive Hycross for 200km in the city: My observations

CVT gearbox is a hoot, if you know how to manage it.

BHPian pbhardwaj recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

Recently Took a Self-Drive Rental Hycross GX and drove it around town for 200 kms with 7 people onboard and AC active for the entire duration with fan speed set on 2nd position in all rows and temperature set to coldest.

Below is the approximate breakup of driving conditions:

  • 80 kms moderate traffic highway drive
  • 50 kms Sunday Morning City Traffic
  • 70 mms Mixed City traffic with Bumper-to-Bumper or Moderate traffic conditions.

Observations:

  • Eco mode is not meant for a full load but works fine with 4-5 people on-board.
  • Normal Mode feels like turbo with 4-5 people on-board but is sufficient for 7-8 people to accelerate quickly or cruise at higher speeds.
  • CVT gearbox is a hoot, if you know how to manage it.
  • Third-row seats are very comfortable, even on mild potholes.
  • Best in class boot-space if compared to other 7-Seaters (SUVs/MUVs) in the market.
  • We got around 12.1 Kmpl of fuel efficiency for the 200 KMs drive.
