Telangana HC Chief Justice to Decide on Engineering College Fee Hike

Hyderabad: The issue of fee enhancement for BE/BTech and other courses in private engineering colleges in Telangana has been placed before the Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court, following conflicting decisions by coordinate benches of the court.

On Monday, Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy, while hearing a petition filed by Avanthi Educational Academy seeking approval to enhance fees in its engineering college, directed the High Court Registry to place the petition before the Chief Justice for appropriate consideration.

Last week, Justice Vijaysen Reddy had allowed a similar request from CBIT to enhance fees for its BE/BTech courses for the block period beginning with the academic year 2025–26. However, the very next day, another single judge bench led by Justice K. Lakshman declined to issue interim orders in favour of nine other engineering colleges seeking similar fee hikes.

Given these contradictory rulings by coordinate benches, Justice Vijaysen Reddy referred the matter to the Chief Justice to ensure uniformity in adjudication.
