The engine was pulling cleanly well into triple digits and the fuel efficiency on the MID was also back to 20+ kmpl.
Bhpian ashis89 recently shared this with other enthusiasts:
Got the car serviced over the weekend. Even though Coyote had run ~94.5k kms, it was going to be the 120k service due to my own accelerated service habit. I had the following things which I wanted them to look into:
- Reduced FE (fell by ~20% in the last 5k kms)
- Reduced acceleration (struggled to gain speed beyond 90 under full load)
- Increased NVH
- Broken tail light
- Check up on brakes and suspension due to age
8700 kms since the last service. ‘Delayed’ as per me as I stick to 7-8k intervals
First car of the day
Reached the place by 7:20AM and my car was already in the service bay by 8:30AM. Per schedule, this was a major service as it included the fuel filter replacement (every 40k kms), coolant replacement (every 2 yrs/30k kms after first replacement at 100k), intake/exhaust system cleaning (my request) and general service. Two people were working on it, replacing the air filter, cabin filter, diesel filter, fuel filter (needs the battery and ECU removed to replace this), tyres rotated, draining the oil and the coolant before putting in fresh ones.
Oil into the drum, coolant into the bucket
Battery out, ECU out
Fresh coolant in
A bottle of diesel was prime out via the new fuel filter to bed it in
Didn’t get to see the EGR setup cleaning but got the before/after pics on the WA group. They badly needed a cleanup
Parked right next to the customer lounge, Coyote could be seen from my window seat. The SA kept sharing photos on the WA group they had created for Coyote but I had already seen them work with my eyes and never needed those photos anyway.
Later, I saw them struggling with the bonnet latch, trying to adjust it with spanners. Later, the SA came and informed me that the latch was damaged and they are not able to make it work. If not replaced, it will give an error on MID and a new one would cost 1500 bucks. Gave the go-ahead to replace it.
The EGR cleaning was done after their lunch break, in a different part of the service area and finally, the latch was also replaced. Rest all the components were found to be good. Tail light was not in stock and they have placed an order for it.
Opted out of the waterless wash which they offer and took the delivery around 3:45 PM.
Total bill was Rs.20,019, the highest till date, except for when I replaced the clutch system and front brake discs.
During the short drive back home, I realized the laziness of the engine and its hesitancy to rev was gone. So I decided to go on a longer drive yesterday.
Woke up early and decided to hit the Hyderabad highway, where I can test some high speed runs and not get bogged down by traffic. By the time I reached the Devanahalli toll, I could feel vibrations on the steering wheel at 80+ speeds. I knew it was a balancing issue. Went a little further and loved the fact that the engine was pulling cleanly well into triple digits. Tanked up at Shell and then decided to call it a day as the bobbing wheel was spoiling the experience. The FE on the MID is also back to 20+ kmpl and I will know more once I check T2T.
Dropped a note to the SA about the wheel balancing and he has promised to get it fixed along with the tail light replacement once the part arrives.
Got the car washed at the nearby wash center and put it under the covers. I need to travel and Coyote would remain unattended for a couple of weeks.
