Hyderabad: A man was shot dead by unidentified persons allegedly while on a morning walk at Shalivahan Nagar Park in Malakpet on Tuesday morning.
The victim, identified as Chandu Rathod (40), a local resident, had come to the park for a morning walk when the incident occurred.
As per available information, Chandu Rathod was walking on the walking track as per his routine when unidentified persons entered the park and fired three rounds of bullets at him.
Chandu Rathod, who suffered multiple bullet wounds, collapsed on the ground and died on the spot.
Panic-stricken locals and other morning walkers in the park immediately alerted the local police.
On receiving information, the Malakpet police reached the spot and took up an investigation. They are examining the CCTV footage from the crime spot and surrounding areas to identify the killers and nab them at the earliest.
The deceased person, Chandunaik Rathod, was a CPI leader and was a native of Narsaipalli village of Nagarkurnool district. According to a preliminary investigation, the police said the assailants had shot the CPI leader as per a plan and were absconding.
Chandunaik’s death has caused a lot of grief among people in Narsaipalli and political circles. The incident also triggered panic among residents in Malakpet.
The CPI leader is the brother-in-law of the CPM State leader Deshya Naik. Police are investigating the case, and more details are awaited.
