Indian Air Force Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla has safely returned to Earth after spending 18 days in space. He was part of the Axiom-4 mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS). His return took place on July 15 when the SpaceX Dragon capsule made a smooth landing in the Pacific Ocean near San Diego.
During his time in space, Shukla carried out important experiments and brought back valuable scientific data from over 60 research projects involving multiple countries. This mission is seen as a major step for India’s future in space, especially as the country prepares for its own human spaceflight mission, Gaganyaan.
Back in Lucknow, his family celebrated his safe return with prayers and a small gathering. Leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated him, calling the mission a proud moment for India.
Shukla will now undergo a short rehabilitation period to help his body adjust after living in space.
