4 New Compact Electric SUVs Coming Soon – Launch Timelines

The electric SUV segment in India is set to get a lot more exciting with multiple new product launches across different price points. If you’re planning your first EV or waiting for a tech-loaded urban electric car, there are four models in the compact SUV segment worth your attention. Tata Motors and Mahindra are ready to launch the updated Punch EV and XUV3XO EV in the coming months, respectively. In the slightly premium space, Kia will introduce the Syros EV, while Hyundai will bring in the Inster EV sometime next year. Here’s when each of them are expected to hit roads and what they will have to offer.

Tata Punch EV Facelift

The Tata punch evvtone of the top-selling electric offerings from the homegrown, is set to receive a midlife update in October, 2025. The compact SUV is likely to receive Nexon EV’s 45kWh battery pack that offers a claimed range of 489km on a single charge. It delivers 145bhp of power and 215Nm of torque. The 2025 Tata Punch EV might also come with a larger touchscreen, powered front seats, new upholstery and a premium audio system.

Mahindra XUV3XO Ev

Mahindra & Mahindra has been testing the Xuv3xo ev for a while now. While its official launch date hasn’t been announced yet, it’s expected to arrive in the coming months. The Mahindra XUV3XO EV might be offered with two battery packs – a 35kWh and a 39.4kWh – delivering a range between 350km – 450km. Mahindra is also likely to make a few EV-specific changes to its exterior and interior.

Kia syros ev

Next on the list of the upcoming compact electric SUVs is the Kia Syros EV, which might share its powertrains with the Hyundai Inster EV. Globally, the Inster EV is offered with 42kWh and 49kWh NMC battery options. The electric Syros will feature a closed-off grille, EV badges and aero-optimized alloy wheels.

Hyundai Instner Ev

Hyundai is set to launch the INSTER EV in India to compete with the Tata Punch EV and the upcoming Mahindra XUV3XO EV. Similar to its global-spec version, the India-bound model might feature 42kWh and 49kWh battery packs, offering a claimed range of 300km and 355km, respectively. The Hyundai Inster EV will be a premium offering, equipped with features such as ADAS tech, a 360-degree camera, dual screen setup and more.
