HYDERABAD: Rachakonda police investigating an apparent hit-and-run death near Katepally village arrested three individuals, including the deceased’s wife, on charges of murdering the victim and trying to stage the death as an accident.The deceased was identified as Vasthapula Swamy, a 36-year-old tractor showroom manager. He was found dead on the Raigiri-Mothkur road on Saturday night. Police said on Saturday night, Swamy was going to Pallerla from Bhongir on his two-wheeler along with his friend Veerababu. At around 11.15 pm, near Katepally, a car crashed into the bike from behind killing Swamy on the spot and leaving Veerababu with serious injuries. Investigators stumbled upon the murder angle after verifying CCTV footage of the accident and call data of Swamy’s wife. Police said the murder was motivated by an extramarital affair and domestic violence.The accused were Swamy’s wife, V Swathi, 35, from Pallerla; her lover, G Sai Kumar, 33, a farmer from Pallepahad; and tea stall owner, P Mahesh, 33, also from Pallerla. A fourth accused, Ch Ramalinga Swamy, remains at large. According to Bhongir DCP Akshansh Yadav, Swathi rekindled her relationship with her old lover Sai Kumar early this year. Meanwhile, Swamy was having an affair with another woman. “There were frequent quarrels between Swathi and Swamy. Consequently, Swathi, Sai and Mahesh hatched a plan to eliminate Swamy.”The accused were arrested on Monday.
